About me

Let me tell you about myself

I’m Anthony Dumas, a financial advisor with over a decade of experience helping individuals and families across Canada make confident, informed financial decisions. With a strong academic background that includes a BCom from the University of Toronto and a Master of Finance from McGill University, I’ve built a career focused on clarity, strategy, and real-life results. Whether you’re planning for retirement, managing debt, investing for the future, or simply looking to gain control of your finances, I work closely with you to create a practical and personalized plan. My approach is hands-on, honest, and grounded in real numbers — no fluff, no jargon. Finance should empower you, not overwhelm you, and I’m here to make that happen.

Education and Certification

2006–2010

Secondary Education – Montreal, QC

Graduated from a French-English bilingual high school in Montreal, where I developed a strong interest in economics and personal finance through business electives and math-focused coursework. Growing up in a diverse and economically dynamic city like Montreal helped shape my early awareness of how differently people managed money — and how powerful financial literacy could be.

2010–2014

University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management

I chose the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto because of its reputation as one of Canada’s top business schools, with a strong focus on finance, economics, and strategic thinking. During my studies, I concentrated in finance and accounting, where I built a foundation in investment principles, business finance, and financial planning fundamentals. Rotman’s competitive environment and academic rigor helped sharpen my analytical skills and introduced me to case-based, client-focused problem solving.

2014–2015

Canadian Securities Course (CSC) – Canadian Securities Institute

After graduation, I completed the Canadian Securities Course, which is recognized as the industry standard for foundational investment knowledge in Canada. I pursued the CSC to gain a deeper understanding of investment products, financial markets, and client suitability — essential tools for providing reliable, professional financial guidance. This certification confirmed my readiness to work directly with individuals and families on wealth-building strategies.

2015–2017

Master of Finance (MFin) – McGill University, Desautels Faculty of Management

To deepen my expertise, I enrolled in the Master of Finance program at McGill University in Montreal — a return to my roots, but with an advanced academic focus. McGill’s global reputation and rigorous curriculum in risk management, financial modeling, and asset valuation provided me with both technical depth and strategic perspective. This program reinforced my belief that finance is not just about numbers — it's about people and helping them plan confidently for what matters.

2020

McGill Personal Finance Essentials – Online Certification

As part of my commitment to continuous learning and public financial literacy, I completed McGill’s open-access Personal Finance Essentials course. This program reflected my belief that good financial education should be both accessible and actionable. I regularly refer clients to this resource and build on it during one-on-one coaching.
